Less Concrete = Making Tanks Affordable
This case history shows a solution to replace or eliminate a concrete floor in a manure storage tank. This procedure is not limited to manure tanks, but should be thought of as a cost effective solution to creating a synthetic floor in any tank.
This synthetic tank floor solution consists of 4 layers of material.
- The first layer is a fused 6 mil poly leak detection liner
- The second layer is a gas venting grid (wick drain)
- The third layer is an 8 oz geotextile
- The forth layer is 60 or 80 mil HDPE
This synthetic floor is attached to the tank and made waterproof by a stainless steel termination strip, attached to the tanks concrete ring beam.
